CSR Program: The VolunTEUs

Whether it be for social or environmental initiatives, the VolunTEU program was created to give all team members an opportunity to demonstrate their socially responsible behaviour and highlight our overall positive impact as people, employees and as a business because ultimately - it’s good to be good...

Here are some of the key initiatives around Oceania that our team members have the opportunity to participate in:

Beyond Blue Wellness Run (Australia)

2XU Wellness Run that proudly supports Beyond Blue, helps raise funds and awareness surrounding mental health. A group of our team members from the Melbourne Office participated again last year, placing us in the top 5 fundraising groups for 2023.

Food Hub & Water Security - Corner Store Network (Timor Leste)

With 90% of Timor Leste rural residents depending on rain-fed agriculture, between November and February the residents experience an annual famine. Organisation Corner Store Network have set up Food Hubs, supporting education and resources for food security to help prevent this. The Timor Leste team visited and participated in a volunteering day at the Timor Leste Food Hub.

Saga Tahiti (French Polynesia)

SAGA Tahiti focuses on educating children about traditional Polynesian sailboat construction, boating and coral gardening to aid reef regeneration. Saga Tahiti creates a trusting platform to learn about waste recycling, addiction risks and domestic violence also.

In 2023, team members from the Papeete office volunteered their time to help this program, which runs across a two-week period where the children, aging from 10 – 12 years old travel around the islands on small yachts while they learn.

Conservation New Zealand Tree Planting (New Zealand)

The NZ Team along with the expertise of Conservation Volunteers New Zealand participated in a tree planting event in 2023, planting 1,180 Native trees at the Papakura stream site, South of Auckland.

The newly planted vegetation will act as a natural filter for the nearby active farm, helping mitigate against erosion while also building on existing habitat. This will increase the health and diversity of the local biodiversity in the area.

Days For Girls (Papua New Guinea)

Days for Girls facilitates access to menstrual care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social enterprises, mobilizing volunteers, and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls.

The PNG Team has increased its support to Days for Girls International in 2023, providing education regarding women’s health and hundreds of reusable women’s health kits to female students at both Eki Vaki Primary School in Port Moresby and Igam Primary School in Lae. With around 500 girls and women attending the two events, the participation is growing higher allowing this program to make a real impact in the local community.
