How does it work?

  • We offer Mix-Biomethane to all our customers, throughout all our services, by implementing a Mass Balance Concept*.
  • This Concept is a way of diversifying our energy mix while keeping track of quantities and allocating them to specific traffics.
  • A declaration is then sent to our customers, stating the quantity of LNG used and its associated CO2 savings.
  • Remaining emissions can be offset thanks to Carbon offset.

What is LNG?

LNG is a natural gas that has undergone a liquefaction process by cooling it down to -161°C. Stored in its liquid state in the tank, the gas is transformed into a gaseous state to fuel the engines.

The CMA CGM Group uses fossil-based LNG and biomethane guarantee of origin. Biomethane is derived from renewable resources such as agricultural vegetable waste.
