Price and Surcharge Updates

ANL - Emergency Intermodal Surcharge (EIS) – USA/Canada West Coast

Please be informed that the below Emergency Intermodal Surcharge has been filed, effective August 26, 2021, to assist with the cost increases resulting from the significantly deteriorating Intermodal situation across the United States.


US$ 350 per container (all sizes and types) will be assessed on all U.S Import shipments with the following provisions:


1. All US import shipments that require a motor only move.*

2. All US import shipments via USWC or Canada WC that require a rail or rail/motor move.

3. All Canada import shipments that require a RAIL move.

*Exception: Any U.S. Import shipment service contract moves where a merchant’s nominated trucker has been engaged to provide services will not be subject to this Emergency On-carriage Intermodal surcharge.


US$ 350 per container (All sizes and types) will be assessed on all U.S. export shipments with the following provisions:


1. All export containers which include a motor only move

2. All export containers which include a motor/rail move


Exception: Any U.S. Export shipment service contract moves where a merchant’s nominated trucker has been engaged to provide services will not be subject to this Emergency Pre-carriage Intermodal surcharge.


This charge allows for managing escalating costs to continue to provide a proper level of service.
