USA Service - Oceania Service Announcement
14th November 2014
OCEANIA SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Low Sulphur Surcharge (LSS)
NORTHBOUND &SOUTHBOUND Trades to/from
WEST COAST USA & Canada
The International MARPOL has set forth legislation to lower the cap on Sulphur Oxide emissions to 0.1%. This requires carriers to switch to a cleaner however considerably more expensive marine gas oil (IMGO), and in some cases carriers may have to retrofit vessels in order to segregate their storage of fuel. For this reason ANL-USL will implement a change in its current bunker formula (BAF) and will assess a new Low Sulphur Surcharge (LSS).
Our current BAF has a LSS component of $12/TEU built into it. Effective December 15, 2014, this LSS charge will be removed from the December 15 announced BAF and will appear on the bill of lading as a separate charge in the amount of $47/TEU. The LSS will be reviewed and adjusted on a quarterly basis, along with our BAF.
Effective December 15th 2015 Northbound and Southbound BAF’s to/from WEST COAST USA will be:
BAF USD 794.00 Per TEU
LSS USD 47.00 Per TEU
Both the BAF & the LSS will apply from West Coasts USA & Canada, for shipments to/from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti and Papua New Guinea. As with the BAF, the LSS is applicable from the date of cargo receipt.
BAF & LSS applicable to shipments to/from the EAST COAST USA & CANADA will be confirmed ASAP.
