New Zealand Imports – Free time clarification of extension 26th March to 23rd April

Further to ANL & CMA CGM’s circulation relating to Import free time dated 31st March 2020 we would like to clarify what this will mean in practice during this period of the Level 4 Covid-19 Lockdown.

Detention will not be charged between the dates of 26th March 2020 to 23rd April 2020 based on the current ruling imposed by the New Zealand Government .If the New Zealand Government makes changes to this timeframe then we reserve the right to adjust the free time extension dates accordingly.

Standard tariff terms or other free time periods will not be counted in addition to this waiver period. The detention clock will start to count again from the 24th of April (or alternative date decreed) as per tariff terms

e.g Any containers that arrived prior to March 26th, the applicable detention terms will stop March 26th and re-commence from April 24th ,or the first day that the Detention conditions resume.

The terms applying to all containers discharged into New Zealand Ports during Level 4 Covid-19 Lockdown will be given the free time hiatus however at the re-commencement of Detention conditions, all of these containers will be subject to STANDARD TARIFF conditions regardless of whether the customer has any special D&D conditions with the Group.

e.g Any container discharged within the period of March 26th and the date of removal of the free time concesseion, will be subject to standard tariff rules and charges from the first date of normal detention conditions resuming. Containers discharged in NZ Ports after the date of normal conditions will have the agreed D&D terms and conditions applied.

Please note: ANL & CMA CGM do reserve the right to review these terms based on any Government alteration to the current conditions in this period.

We urge our customers still to plan the clearance of their Import shipments wherever possible, with demand high for our country’s essential exports. The terms above are executed to ensure that ANL & CMA CGM can continue to provide container supply for the New Zealand export trades.
