CMA CGM expands footprint in Indonesia with a third inland depot in Surabaya
The CMA CGM Group, a global player in maritime, land, air and logistics solutions, is pleased to announce the opening of a third inland depot in Surabaya, Indonesia. Mr. Michel Azrak, General Manager of CMA CGM Indonesia, inaugurated the new facility today in the presence of Mr. Agustinus Maun, Chief of Port Authority and Harbourmaster Tanjung Perak, bringing the total number of depots in the country to eight, four located in Jakarta and one in Semarang.
With a combined capacity of 15,000 TEUs and occupying a total area of 135,000 sqm, these depots are managed by CMA CGM Inland Services (CCIS), the Group’s global inland logistics arm, present in more than 30 countries. CCIS in Indonesia now handles a volume of around 700,000 TEUs annually.
Beyond handling container, stuffing, cleaning and repair, the depots also offer pre-trip inspection, pre-cooling of containers and reefer monitoring services. This new depot will offer specific solutions such as flexi tank installation for liquid cargo.
Michel Azrak, General Manager of CMA CGM Indonesia, said: “The CMA CGM Group is committed to supporting the rapid growth of Surabaya as a key manufacturing hub in Indonesia. It was encouraging to see our two other depots in Surabaya already running at full capacity. By adding this new depot, we are confident to meet the rising demand of shippers in the city, as well as reduce transportation time and CO2 emissions as a result.”
With a presence in Indonesia since 1995, the CMA CGM Group has continued to invest in the country to grow its footprint and through multiple initiatives to preserve the environment and to serve the less privileged communities. Today, the Group employs 500 people in the country and offers 13 services calling 25 ports across the country, connecting shippers to intra-Asia and global destinations.
